Alaska Village Initiatives (AVI) offers new opportunities to Alaska villages through Broadband Internet and digital training. We understand the challenges our communities face with Internet access, and we’re here to help our people connect while honoring our traditional ways.
What your community will receive:
Training participants will receive a computer and software programs (one computer per household)
The AVI training team will provide computer skills that include the use of email, the Internet, website design, and essential everyday digital tools, such as selling native arts and crafts online to reach worldwide customers from your home, opportunities to work from the comfort of your home, connecting to telemedicine services, online educational opportunities from home, and Internet safety to protect your family from scams while protecting your identity.
How training works:
Training programs can be in-person, live online, or on-demand using the AVI training portal.
AVI’s programs are designed for all skill levels, from beginners to those seeking to expand their basic skills to a higher level
Local trusted computer-savvy digital navigators can be trained to assist community members with ongoing, individualized support for accessing affordable and appropriate connectivity, devices, and digital skills.
Who can participate?
All rural native communities, regardless of age or experience, are welcome to participate.
